Saratoga Public Safety Faciltity Cx (Saratoga Springs, NY)
Fusion Systems Engineering provided commissioning services for the energy consuming systems of the ground up construction of this 64,000 square foot municipal services and public safety building. Commissioned systems included water-cooled VRF heating and cooling, domestic hot water heaters, condensing boilers, cooling tower, VAV dedicated outside air systems, packaged rooftop heat pumps, data center precision cooling, emergency ventilation controls and integrated energy management system.
701 River Street (Troy, NY)
The owners of this mixed use facility think way outside the box when it comes to MEP systems. Redburn Development teamed with Fusion Systems Engineering to design a custom cogeneration central plant capable of CCHP (Combined Cooling, Heating, and Power) to parallel the utility, and recapture waste heat for building and domestic hot water in the winter. An absorption chiller and chilled water system provides the medium for cooling in the apartments and commercial spaces in the summer. Power from the utility is “net metered” yielding substantial energy savings and remarkable payback.
Skidmore College Surrey Williamson Inn Renovations (Saratoga Springs, NY)
Fusion Systems Engineering designed a solution that provides HVAC in the existing 60-person meeting space, inn, and banquet facility. As part of this project, Skidmore had expressed interest in resolving existing low-pressure steam distribution and boiler control issues that are present in the building. An inverter-driven multi-zone split system was designed to achieve individual control for the guest rooms and kitchen, and a new air handler for the meeting space was specified. A unique ventilation algorithm was specified to provide kitchen makeup air, and ventilation air to meet demand and conserve energy.
Hampton Summer Residence (Long Island, NY)
Fusion Systems Engineering designed a solution utilizing energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems for a seasonal residence in Long Island, NY. The Knick Apartments – 16 Sheridan Ave (Albany, NY)
MEP design for a 92-unit mixed use apartment building with on-site power generation. The building was designed to reclaim waste heat from generators to heat the building and provide tenant domestic hot water. In the summer, the excess heat is used to operate an absorption chiller that generates chilled water to temper the ventilation air for the occupied spaces. Energy efficient VRF (variable refrigerant) systems were specified so heating and cooling electrical demands can modulate as necessary to optimize the on-site cogeneration design.
Mosu Japanese Steakhouse (Colonie, NY)
One of the most unique concepts in food service today. The design of Mosu raises the bar for restaurant planning, and creativity. The venue brings the grilling right to the dining room tables, where patrons are given raw meats to grill to their liking. Highly custom gas-fired downdraft grilling tables and fire protection systems were designed, and the coordination process of the commercial grease exhaust and HVAC system necessitated the use of 3-D design software.
Hotel Trilogy (Colonie, NY)
When rebranding of an existing hotel called for a new venue, Fusion Systems was engaged to design the MEP systems for an all-new 6500 sf bar/restaurant/meeting space addition and the renovation of the existing 2500 sf hotel lobby.
The Kenmore Rain-Bo Room (Albany, NY)
Restoration of an historic assembly venue that has hosted jazz legend Duke Ellington. The 8000 sf renovation included major upgrades of mechanical, electrical, and fire alarm systems and the buildout of a new kitchen to convert the space into a catering venue while preserving the original finishes (c. 1878).
Kenmore/Steuben Re-Development (Albany, NY)
Mechanical and Electrical engineer of record for a design-build gut-renovation project of a historic 200,000 sf mixed use building in downtown Albany, NY. The building includes 5 floors of apartments, two commercial office spaces, three restaurants, two cocktail lounges, a catering hall, and an indoor farm. Fusion Systems Engineering selected a water-source heat pump system with Energy Recovery as the HVAC design, and engineered a one of a kind grid paralleling distributed generation energy plant that captures and utilizes waste heat from four 65kW generators year-round.
Chris’s Coffee Warehouse (Latham, NY)
This growing coffee roasting business made a major investment in their operation with this new 55,000 square foot production, distribution and central office facility. Fusion Systems Engineering was asked to provide electrical engineering design for the relocation of their existing roasters and equipment, and to coordinate the installation of new European roasters and bagging equipment. Electrical wiring was designed to meet Class 2 Division 2 requirements of the NEC.
Superpower (Glenville, NY)
Full MEP design and industrial tool hook-up of a new 60,000 square foot headquarters building for this superconductor manufacturer. As part of the build, Fusion Systems engineered a central process cooling system and water distribution that reduced process cooling power consumption by 75%, and water consumption by an amazing 90% when compared to their previous facility.
Benjamin Moore (Johnstown, NY)
Fusion Systems designed a new medium voltage site power distribution, standby generator, and MEP building infrastructure for a phased 125,000 square foot addition to an existing manufacturing facility. Full MEP design was provided for the construction of a new office structure.
The Wick Hotel (Hudson, NY)
Completely new electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems were designed for the facility. The renovation presented unique challenges to accommodate all MEP systems within the existing structures that were erected over the years. The project successfully repurposed an abandoned warehouse facility to become a luxury hotel that features a commercial kitchen, dining area, and boasts on-site power and heat cogeneration.
